  •  Lecture on Sex-linked Disorders.  We will discusss 2 disorders that are linked to the X chromosome. We will discuss sex-linked disorders such as clorblindness and hemophilia and how they are passed from parent to child.

  • Make a Baby Lab. Students will produce 4 babies in class and identify each babies genetic traits. They will marry one of their babies to another couple in class and determine the genetics of their grandchildren.  
  • Homework:  Complete the lab if they did not complete in class. .

  • Blood type Lecture.  We will predict the blood type of children given parents blood type.    (Honors Classes only - Leaf Project will be turned in no later than today for full credit.)

Week of 8/13 - 8/17

Monday
  • Welcome to Biology.  We will get our biology books today.  I will begin discussing the class rules starting with the cell phone policy.     
  • Homework: Students and Parents need to sign and return the Cell phone policy.

Tuesday
  • We will continue to discuss class rules, class expectations, grading policy, and how all student should conduct themselved in class.  Students are expected to keep a notebook of ALL their work done in this class.  Notebook requirements are outlined in the Notebook Requirement handout.
  • Homework:  Students and Parents need to sign and return the Class Procedure and grading policy.

Wednesday
  • We will discuss how students will be expected to conduct themselves during Labs and Lab safety.  Students will read and highlight important Lab safety procedures.  
  • Homework: Students and Parents need to sign and return the Lab Safety Contract.   

Thursday
  • We will discuss the six steps of the scientific method while discovering how student learn.  We will do the Learning Styles Lab.  Each student will discover how they learn and what types of assignments they learn best from and what assignments they dislike.   
  • Homework: Complete todays portion of the Lab.   

Friday
  • We will continue with the Learning Styles Lab.  We will collect our data, analyze the data, and draw our conclusions.
  • Homework:  Write half page in complete paragraph no less that 3-5 sentences in each paragraph.  Student needs to include the name of their learning style and a discription of that learning style.  They need to discuss the types of assignments they learn best from and the types of assignments they dislike the most.
